Outdoor Exercises You can do on Your Lunch Hour

Why spend your lunch hour sitting on your duff? Go outside of the office and move around a
bit. You don’t have to work up a major
sweat and feel gross the rest of the day to reap the benefits. Why don’t you:

Walk – this is the easiest lunchtime activity. Walk to get your food or walk around the
block a few times. You’ll not only get
exercise, you’ll feel rejuvenated. This
is a nice break to spending all day in an office in the artificial light.

Dribble – a basketball that is. Keep one at your desk and go out for at least
30 minutes and dribble. Some corporate
environments have hoops and others are close to parks that have them. This is also a nice mid-day stress buster.

Throw – the football with a colleague. Get the smaller foam balls that are easier to
throw and catch so that you can enjoy rather than worry about how well you
throw. You can get a few people involved
in this and it becomes a team-building event.

Catch – the baseball. Get out your mitts and go for it. You can use tennis balls as well for those who aren’t as skilled.

Remember to wear your sunscreen! What’s your favorite lunchtime activity?

Yesterday, I walked to lunch with one of the interns- round trip 45 minutes. Instead of feeling sleepy (like I usually do after lunch), I felt alert. Most Los Angelenos don't know what they're missing by driving to the convenience store 3 blocks away.

I agree! I walk whenever I get a chance. It does wonders for your energy as well as you found out!

I too walked to lunch that day roughly that same distance. Thanks for the advice, walking is surprisingly fun to do, especially since it's also great for you.

I'm glad it works for you! You get the extra benefit of clearing your mind from the says tasks - which is what makes it fun!
